Probation & Parole Tracker
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 28, 2026 | Last Updated: May 27, 2026
1. Overview
Probation Parole Tracker ("PPT," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") is a supervision-compliance application operated by Ruiz Protective Service. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information about individuals who use the App ("Parolees") and the authorized professionals who access that information ("Authorized Users").
By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. If you are a Parolee, your supervising officer or agency may have accepted this policy on your behalf as a condition of supervision.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Location Data
Background location collection is a core, legally required feature of this application. Parolees subject to probation or parole supervision conditions may not opt out of location collection while they are enrolled in an active supervision program. Please check with your supervising officer or agency for specific requirements and permissions related to location data collection in your jurisdiction.
2.2 Account & Profile Data
- Full name, date of birth, and contact information provided at enrollment
- Case number, supervising agency, and officer assignment
- Login credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form and never in plaintext)
2.3 Device & Usage Data
- Device model, operating system version, and app version
- App session timestamps and feature-usage events for audit purposes
- Push notification tokens for compliance alerts
3. Why We Collect Location Data
Location data is collected to fulfill the legal and administrative obligations of probation and parole supervision. Specifically, it:
- Provides an objective, timestamped record of an Examinee's whereabouts during the supervision period
- Generates evidence that can be used in favor of the Examinee to demonstrate compliance with geographic restrictions or curfew conditions
- Enables supervising officers, therapists, and other Authorized Users to verify compliance without requiring in-person check-ins
- Supports early intervention if a potential supervision violation is detected
Collection occurs approximately every 5 minutes to balance accuracy with battery and data usage. The precise interval may vary slightly based on device state, GPS availability, and power-saving modes. This is subject to change without notice as we continuously optimize the App's performance and reliability.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To generate compliance reports viewable by the Parolee and their Authorized Users
- To send alerts when supervision conditions may have been violated
- To support legal or administrative proceedings as directed by the supervising agency
- To maintain accurate supervision records as required by law
- To improve the reliability and performance of the App
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or location data to third parties for marketing or other purposes.
5. Who Has Access to Your Data
Access to a Parolee's data is strictly role-based. The following categories of Authorized Users may be granted access:
- The Parolee — full access to their own location history and compliance records
- Parole/Probation Officers — access to the Parolees assigned to their caseload
- Therapists & Treatment Providers — access granted explicitly by the Parolee or their supervising agency
- Other Authorized Personnel — attorneys, case managers, or other individuals granted access by the Parolee or the supervising agency in accordance with applicable law
Access permissions are managed within the App and may be modified or revoked by the supervising agency at any time. All access events are logged for audit purposes.
6. Data Storage & Security
All data collected by the App — including location records, account information, and audit logs — is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on a secure, access-controlled server in a proprietary format designed to prevent unauthorized extraction or tampering.
- Data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard encryption
- Access to the server infrastructure is restricted to authorized personnel only
- Regular security reviews are conducted to identify and address vulnerabilities
- Passwords are never stored in plaintext
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
7. Data Retention
Location and compliance records are retained for the duration of the Parolee's supervision period and for a reasonable period thereafter as required by the supervising agency or applicable law. When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
8. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of data that is no longer required for supervision purposes
- Obtain an explanation of how automated location data is used in compliance decisions
Please note that some of these rights may be limited where retention is required by law or by order of a court or supervising agency. To exercise your rights, contact us using the information in Section 10.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for adults subject to court-ordered supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18 without the explicit consent of a parent, guardian, or supervising authority.
